Alex and Ella looking romantic

Our wedding will take place at Ella's parents' home, Rancho del Valle, in Carlton, Washington. We also have information about accommodations in and near Carlton.

Getting there

Carlton is located in the North Cascades in north-central Washington.

By Air
Wenatchee: The nearest city with a commercial airport and train station is Wenatchee, a 2 hour drive from Carlton (with flights to/from Seattle on Alaska/Horizon).
Seattle: Seattle/Tacoma International airport is a 4–4.5 hour drive to Carlton, through Wenatchee. Seattle is a major hub for Alaska Airlines, with non-stop flights across North America; JetBlue also provides Seattle-Boston non-stops.
Spokane: Spokane is a 3.5–4 hour drive to Carlton.
Vancouver, BC: Vancouver is a 5–6 hour drive to Carlton via the North Cascades Highway.
Penticton, BC: Canadian guests might also consider Penticton, BC, a 2.5–3 hour drive from Carlton (with flights to/from Vancouver on Air Canada Jazz).
By Train
Amtrak's Empire Builder provides breathtaking, 4 hour service from Seattle to Wenatchee; we highly recommend it! The train leaves downtown Seattle daily at 4:45 PM; an express city bus (route 194) runs frequently from the airport to the train station.
The Empire Builder continues to Chicago, passing through Glacier National Park and about 20 miles north of Madison. The ride from Chicago to Wenatchee takes about 40 hours.
By car
There are five routes from the west side of the Cascades to Carlton. South to north, the Columbia Gorge (I-84) leads from Portland, White Pass leads along the south edge of Rainier National Park, Snoqualmie Pass (I-90) leads from Seattle via Wenatchee, Steven's Pass (US-2) leads from the north side of Seattle via Wenatchee, and the North Cascades Highway (WA-20) leads from north of Seattle to Winthrop.
From Seattle, Snoqualmie Pass or Steven's Pass to Wenatchee are the fastest routes. The North Cascades Highway is a stunning drive, well worth doing in one direction, although it takes 30-60 minutes longer.
From Wenatchee, take US-97 north. At Pateros, turn left (northwest) on WA-153. Carlton is about 20 miles ahead along WA-153. Most lodging is in Twisp or Winthrop, further north along the same road.
Rental cars and van
Rental cars are available at all the airports and in downtown Wenatchee (near the train station). If possible, we will arrange transportation or facilitate car pools from Wenatchee and Seattle to Carlton and the hotels.
